Satchel Paige

Leroy "Satchel" Paige (July 7, 1906 – June 8, 1982) was an American baseball pitcher who became a legend in both the Negro Leagues and Major League Baseball. He debuted with the Chattanooga Black Lookouts in 1926 and quickly established himself as a dominant force. Paige's remarkable career included playing for the Cleveland Indians, where he became the oldest rookie in MLB history at age 42 in 1948. He helped the Indians win the World Series that same year. Notable for his longevity and talent, Paige's most famous achievement came in 1971 when he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. His precise control, innovative pitches, and charismatic personality set him apart as one of baseball's most memorable figures.
