Ruth Graham

Ruth Bell Graham (1920–2007) was an American author and the longtime spouse of evangelist Billy Graham. Born in Qingjiang, China, to medical missionaries, she moved to the United States for college and graduated from Wheaton in 1943. Graham wrote several poetry collections, including Sitting by My Laughing Fire (1977), and later published works such as Prodigals and Those Who Love Them. She was closely involved in planning and editing aspects of her husband’s ministry while raising the couple’s five children in Montreat, North Carolina. Graham lived there for decades and completed her final book, Footprints of a Pilgrim, in the early 2000s.
